Ahmad is a Consultant Ophthalmologist and Oculoplastic Surgeon at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. He has an interest in oculoplastics with fellowships at Moorfields Eye Hospital and Maxillofacial training at Northwest London Hospitals.

He is working on a wide range of problems with the eye and the area around the eye and the mid face. He is the current clinical lead at Imperial for Laser, High volume cataract surgery

Talk name: Current management of diabetic maculopathy

Esther is a Consultant Ophthalmologist in the Medical Retina department, clinical lead for the Diabetic eye service and Clinical Lead for Outpatient Services at the Western Eye Hospital. She completed here Medical Retina Fellowship from Moorfields Eye Hospital. She is involved in a number of clinical research projects and sees patients from a wide variety of retinal conditions ranging from straightforward to complex cases.


Synopsis: A review of the pathology of diabetic maculopathy, current and new treatment and what are the must know facts for optometrists in their practice. Will follow a case presentation and interactive format.

Mr Obeda Kailani

Talk name: What to do when the angle closes?

Format: 45-minutes Lecture, 15-minutes Q&A

CET Points: 1

Obeda is a Consultant Ophthalmologist specialising in glaucoma and cataract surgery. He completed fellowships at the Western Eye Hospital, Imperial College London and St.Thomas’ Hospital.

He has trained in Ophthalmology at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Epsom and St.Helier University Hospital and Moorfields Eye Hospital Trust. His subspecialist interests include glaucoma and complex cataract surgery.

Synopsis: Managing glaucoma in the community can be tricky, Mr Kailani will go over what does angle closure really mean, why you should investigate it further and what to do when you encounter an angle closure patient. Talk is case presentations and interactive.
